Army says 33 militants killed in Swat
Army says 33 militants killed in Swat, four troops dead ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (AP): Army helicopters targeted militant positions in Swat Valley, killing at least 33 fighters loyal to Fazlullah, a pro-Taliban cleric, the military said Thursday. The men were killed Wednesday in a series of attacks in Swat, said army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad. He said he had no confirmation of local media reports that about 60 people, including civilians, had died in the raids near the towns of Shangla, Kabal and elsewhere. An army statement said militants Wednesday fired six mortar rounds at the airport near Mingora, killing two troops and injuring five more. A local police official said at least two soldiers died when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicles at the town of Batkhela on Wednesday. The military said eight soldiers were injured in the blast. (First Posted @ 09:35 PST, Updated @ 10:50 PST)
